It has been a while since I have written anything of any substance. But, being home sick from work today, I figured I have plenty of time to update everyone.
Delanie continues to amaze us! She is putting together nouns, adjectives and verbs, and usually throws in some other parts of speech too. She has several songs that she enjoys singing, mostly in the car or to babies. She has also started "reading" books, where she recalls parts of the story and matches what she remembers with the pictures. She even remembers some of the inflection that Dave and I have used when reading the book.
Delanie's sense of humor continues to develop. One of her recent funnies is while we read, "Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus." This book has a relatively simple concept, which opens with the bus driver giving us instructions, then follows with a pigeon asking if he can drive the bus over and over for about 20 pages. Well, Delanie has started telling the pigeon "Yes!" he can drive the bus! Another recent funny - taking her shoes and socks off and shouting "piggies!" and giggling over and over. And another funny -Dave and I will inevitably have the 3 minute, serious bills-and-work talk at some point each evening, at which point Delanie turns to us and says, "No talking Mommy, no talking Daddy. NO!" She has a point...
One major sign of growing up - Delanie spent her first weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Dave and I met DJ and Justine in NYC for a few days over Valentine's Day weekend, and dropped Delanie off en route. Delanie handled the transitions pretty well (so we hear) and really enjoyed herself. When we picked her up, she was already fast asleep in the back of the car. Well, she woke up 15 minutes later, and just keep grinning and giggling at us, too cute! A big thanks to Grandma and Granpa for the fun weekend!

Wow! That sounds like SO much fun! I've always wanted to go to NYC... and it is so nice that you have family in the area to watch Delanie! We were just talking about that last night... even just an hour or two of a break from Elizabeth would be nice--lol! Although, a weekend would be even better--but rather than a cool vacation, we'd probably just opt to nap ;)
Hope you feel better!

Lanie wowed us with all kinds of new skills while with us - like saying "nuke it!" while I was preparing dinner on the stove, putting on her own shoes and socks, showing her "piggies" and saying "this one to market", and describing the antics of the squirrel at the bird feeder. She was loads of fun!
