June 28 - 3 Months Old!

Delanie is 3 months old! Her unofficial weight is 16 lb and height is 26 inches. Her height is putting her out of her infant carrier seat sooner than we would like, but it's probably better in the end that we are not killing our backs with the infant carrier!

Delanie joined her cousins for a visit to Playspace Children's Museum on Wednesday. They have a nice infant room with a wall of mirrors. Here she is looking at herself.

This is another picture of her at the museum, sitting in a molded foam pillowy-thing.

To beat the hot, humid Carolina weather, Delanie has taken some naps in just a diaper. When she wakes up, she flips herself all around in her crib, removes herself from her swaddle, talks to herself a bit in the mirror, then smiles when we come into the room. Twice now her head is where her feet were, and the other day she had her foot resting on the top of the side of the crib...

Although her naps are a little shorter than we'd prefer, you can't help but be tickled when you walk into her room and see that smile.

New England Trip

Our family went to New England for a week to see Deanna's family. Delanie did really well overall, considering how many different places she had to sleep over the course of the week, including the plane.

The first 3 days we went to Cape Cod with DJ and Justine. It was beautiful to sit on the quiet beach and see views of Martha's Vineyard. Delanie liked the sound of the waves, but wasn't happy in the bright sun. Here is a pic of Delanie all lathered in sunscreen before Beachin' It Up. Sonya, notice the sandals??

We spent the rest of the week with Deanna's mother, known to Delanie as Mimi. We took a few day trips, including one to our camp on Square Pond. The weather was beautiful, not too hot. Delanie was able to chill under a nice shade tree in between naps on the screened porch.

One of the great things about our visit was being able to see our family. We saw both the LaFleur and Callaghan sides during our visit, and Delanie probably passed through 62 hands during those few days. Here is a picture of the 4 generations of women on Deanna's side of the family.

June 15: 11 Weeks and Change

This picture is proof as to just how big this girl is! Poor thing - her head and feet are out of her tub!! We will be transitioning to the big tub soon! She loves to smile at herself in the mirror - who wouldn't want to stare at that cute face?

This is a picture of Delanie's initiation into the Sweet Shoppe Sisters - my five bestest buddies!

This was a BUSY week for us, and Delanie was such a trooper! We had several dinners out, then she spent one morning at CCMS being cared for by the wonderful office staff while I sat in on interviews. She had several trips to Target, Party City and other stores as we prepared for a couple upcoming parties and our trip.

This is Delanie asleep on our bed as I type. Her little foot is coming out of her swaddle, and these are special-ordered extra-large swaddle blankets. I suppose we are going to have to work on getting her to sleep without a swaddle soon!

Our family is headed up north for a week to see the Callaghans and LaFleurs - Deanna's family. We will try to update the blog at least once, but will catch up with everyone for sure when we get back home!

Pool Party!

Today was our first trip to the pool! The water was a little cold, so Delanie just dipped her feet in!

She is sucking on her fist here to self-soothe ... needless to say, this was not the most positive experience for Delanie OR Mommy! Hey, I am just preparing her for the pool party at Grandpa Joe's!

This is a pic of Delanie in her Bumbo chair - a great molded chair that supports her back. This has become the preferred way of strengthening her neck muscles (tummy time just isn't cutting it these days - more fist sucking and more frustration for Delanie and Mommy!). Instead of sitting "at" the table with us during dinner, Delanie actually sits "on" the table, right between the salt and pepper. Dave, can you please pass the Delanie??

2 Months Old!

Yay for me! I am offically 2 months old! I am getting so big and strong! Let's see, I can:
- Find my hands and put them in my mouth
- Smile and giggle
- Cough for attention
- Stick out my tongue
- Hold up my head
-Sleep through the night

I also have a lot of special talents that are not recognized by most books or pediatricians, like holding conversations with everyone I meet and making bubbles.

Here I am attempting some tummy time. Mommy and Daddy read too much and say that this is good for me. I don't particularly like taking a nose dive to the carpet, however.

I went to the pediatrician on 5/29 to confirm how big and healthy I am! I weighed 13 lbs, 9.5 oz and measured 24.25 inches. These are both the 95th percentile for my age. Dr. Simpson also said I am right on track developmentally, if you don't include all my special talents.

7 Weeks Old!

Attack of the Giant (but Adorable) Baby!

Delanie is 13 lbs, 9 oz at 7 weeks. She is very tall, but also quite squirmy, so we don't have an official height at this time. She loves this vibrating green chair, she hangs out in it for several hours each day.

Here Delanie is after her first (of many) Sears photo shoot. She was very happy and smiley, so the pictures came out great! She looks a bit tuckered out after being in front of the camera (and so does Dad).

Meeting Daddy's Family - Delanie's Perspective

Well, these were by far my busiest two days ever! Mommy and Daddy took me up to Virginia to meet Daddy's family. They are great people, but it was a little tiring for me to constantly be the center of attention!

Here I am with Mommy before company arrived. Let's call this the quiet before the storm.

This is me in Great-Grandpa Nick's arms on his 88th birthday (I hope he doesn't mind me posting this, if you see him, he's not a day over 50). Four Generations of Blatchfords together for this photo-op. If you look closely, you will see that I am trying to nap. Just when I started to get comfy in someone's arms, it was time to pass me to the next person! But I didn't mind all the face time with Nick, Aunt Kim, Uncle Ed, Carey and Shakeel.
After the birthday party, there was a Clemons gathering. More passing around, more paparazzi following my every move. This is me with Aunt Kathleen, charming the pants off everyone with my smile.
We got back on Sunday afternoon, where Mommy, Daddy and I all konked out early. Of course, I needed a bath first to get all those kisses off me! I can't wait to see everyone again soon!
